Rain contributed to fatal highway wreck

An 81-year-old Somerville man died Thursday afternoon after losing control of his truck on State Highway 36 in Burleson County.


According to the Department of Public Safety, Edwin Henry Moravec was driving a 1999 Chevy pickup in wet and rainy weather when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the cement wall of a storm drain about 2 miles from Lyons.


Moravec was pronounced dead soon after being taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell.
