Billy Currington announced as Chilifest's headliner

Promising a "bigger and better than ever" event, Chilifest organizers announced Friday that this year's festival will be headlined by country singer Billy Currington.


The annual Chilifest, which has contributed millions to local charities since its inception in 1991, will be staged April 14 in Snook.


Also included in the line-up of musical acts are Pat Green, Randy Rogers, Josh Abbott, and Sunny Sweeney.


Organizations benefiting from Chilifest 2012 are Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Brazos Valley Children's Museum, the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley, Voices For Children, the Kiwanis Club of College Station, Bryan Protection Firemen, the College Station Lions Club, Brazos Valley Hospice, Still Creek Ranch, Gary Blair Special Olympics/ Gary Blair Charities, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brazos Valley and Burleson County Go Texan.


Advanced tickets can be purchased for $30 online through the Chilifest website at www.chilifest.org, or at Catalena Hatters, the Deacon and University location of Wings N More, Callaway Villas, CC Creations, Aggieland Outfitters, Inspirations inside Post Oak Mall, Loupot's Bookstores and Raising Cane's.


Tickets will be available at the gate for $35, but they sell out quickly. Gates will open at noon on Friday, April 13 for chili team members and at 10 a.m. Saturday for the general public.
