Bremond nursing home fires employee
Eagle Staff Report
An employee at Bremond Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was fired after administrators discovered the person appeared to be stealing money from patients, officials said.
The issue was brought to light "recently," said Merideth Martin, administrator for the nursing home.
Because an investigation by the Texas Rangers is pending, Martin declined to discuss details such as on the name or work history of the employee or the number of patients determined to have been affected.
"As soon as we became aware of the issue, we initiated an internal investigation," she said. "When we determined a connection between a facility employee and the payment discrepancy, we immediately notified law enforcement."
Any residents who believe they or a family member may be a victim should call Martin at 254-746-7666.
The case is being handled by Texas Ranger Andres Del La Garza, said Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak.
Attempts to reach Del La Garza by phone and through email were unsuccessful.
