Eagle Staff Report

A 19-year-old Bryan man was arrested after leading officers on a foot chase, police said.

Christopher Wade Blake was spotted by an officer responding Thursday to a report of a man pushing on a bathroom window while attempting to break into a house on Miller Street.

A man matching a description provided by an officer was located near South College. Officers approached the man, later identified as Blake, and noticed his hands were under his hoodie adjusting something, police said.

The teenager said he was holding his shoe but when police went to grab it they realized it was a gun, according to police reports.

Officers were able to confiscate the weapon, but when they pulled on Blake's hoodie, he slipped out of it and ran. After a brief chase, Blake was caught as he tried to jump over a fence, police said.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He was convicted of assault of a public servant in 2011.

He was also charged with evading arrest and on a warrant for parole violation.

Blake remained in the Brazos County Jail on Friday without bail.
