MEN


No. 4 Kansas 59, Kansas State 53: MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Tyshawn Taylor had 20 points and Jeff Withey added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Kansas, which is alone in first place in the Big 12.


The Jayawks (21-5, 11-2) won for the 36th time in their last 39 games against the Interstate 70 rival.


Jamar Samuels had a season-high 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats (17-8, 6-7).


The Wildcats briefly pulled ahead midway through the second half, and were within 55-51 when Rodney McGruder knocked down a jumper with 1:14 left. But they came up empty on their next three trips, unable to take advantage of the Jayhawks' balky foul shooting.


McGruder finished with 12 points for Kansas State, while Will Spradling had 10.


The Jayhawks used a big first-half run en route to a 67-49 win in Lawrence last month.

McNeese State 70, Northwestern State 61: NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Patrick Richard scored 20 points and Rudy Turner had a double-double off the bench to lead McNeese State over Northwestern State 70-61.


The Cowboys (13-10, 9-2 Southland Conference) outrebounded Northwestern State 51-33 and scored 17 second-chance points. Turner led the way on the glass with 12 rebounds, scoring 10 points.


Dontae Cannon added 17 points for McNeese State, which outscored the Demons 46-20 in the paint and 12-0 on the fast break. The Cowboys came in winners of five straight, their last loss coming to Northwestern State, 64-61 on Jan. 21.


Shamir Davis led the Demons (14-12, 7-5) with 13 points.

Prairie View A&M 71, Grambling State 52: PRAIRIE VIEW -- Louis Munks scored 19 points and Prairie View A&M dominated inside in a 71-52 victory over Grambling State.


Ryan Gesiakowski and Jourdan DeMuynck added 11 points apiece for the Panthers (11-14, 7-5 Southwestern Athletic), who used a 53-36 rebounding advantage to pile up a 38-14 edge on points in the paint. Mayol Riathin led the way with 11 rebounds.


Quincy Roberts scored 21 points to pace the Tigers (3-20, 3-10), who dropped their fifth straight game. Bryant Purvis added 10 points for Grambling State, which shot just 31 percent (20 of 65).


WOMEN


No. 13 Tennessee 91, No. 7 Kentucky 54: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Meighan Simmons scored a season-high 25 points for Tennessee.


Shekinna Stricklen added 18 points for the Lady Volunteers (18-7, 9-3 Southeastern Conference), who shot 59 percent while holding Kentucky to 33.3 percent and held a 45-27 rebounding advantage.


Bria Goss had 15 points for the Wildcats (21-4, 10-2), who lost consecutive games for the first time this season.


Tennessee led 46-28 at halftime after shooting 60 percent. Both teams had 10 turnovers, but the Lady Vols had scored eight more points off giveaways than the Wildcats.


Tennessee's lead reached 40 points with 4:37 to play.


A'dia Mathies, who scored 34 points in Kentucky's last meeting with Tennessee, had 12.

Minnesota 64, No. 16 Nebraska 58: MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota's Kionna Kellogg scored with 1:01 left break the game's final tie.


The Gophers (13-14, 5-8 Big Ten) used a 20-0 run to forge a 40-24 lead with 17:00 to go. But the Cornhuskers (19-5, 8-4) overcame a 58-51 deficit with a 7-0 run capped by Kaitlyn Burke's basket with 3:17 left.


Neither team scored until Kellogg made her go-ahead basket. The Gophers, who had lost three straight, made four free throws for the final margin.


Rachel Banham led Minnesota with 21 points, including three 3-pointers, and Kiara Buford added 16. Brianna Mastey and Kellogg grabbed 11 rebounds each as the Gophers piled up a 42-31 edge on the boards.


Jordan Hooper made four 3-pointers and led Nebraska with 20 points.
