Eagle Staff Report
Texas A&M officials on Tuesday named Stephen W. Searcy to head the biological and agricultural engineering department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Searcy had been serving as interim department head since September 2010, after the position was vacated by Gary Riskowski.
Under Riskowski, who stepped down for a full-time faculty position, Searcy served as associate department head.
Searcy, who received his doctorate in agricultural engineering from Oklahoma State University, became a faculty member in 1980.
He was named a fellow of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers in 2008, and elected as treasurer in 2009.
Searcy is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology and is a registered Texas professional engineer.
