Allen Ferguson, 8, gets his helmet in place Wednesday prior to a relay race inside the Guilliam Indoor Track Stadium at Texas A&M. More than 2,000 second-graders from across the Brazos Valley packed the track to hear A&M officials and sports stars stress the importance of headgear when participating in bicycling, football, equestrian, baseball and many other sports. Each child returned to their classrooms to find a safety helmet waiting for them as part of the Hard Hats for Little Heads program.
