50 Men Who Can Cook raises $90,000 for education grants
The 50 Men Who Can Cook event raised more than $90,000 to support teacher grants, student scholarships and special projects, officials said.
Officials with the College Station ISD Education Foundation said the 5th annual program was made possible through sponsors, including Commerce National Bank, celebrity chefs and volunteers.
The event showcased the culinary talents of 98 cooks who served their recipes from 64 cooking stations earlier this month at the Brazos County Expo. Last year, the event was able to pull in about $60,000.
Through the program, the foundation will reach a $500,000 goal that was set to give back to the classroom through teacher grants. The group has raised more than $1.5 million through community and corporate donations in its 13 years.
