The stubborn ridge of high pressure that has been causing all of the hot and dry weather across Texas this summer is finally on the move.

Now it won’t be moving much, but it is expected to move just far enough north to allow for a surge of tropical moisture/tropical wave to move slowly across south Texas. This tropical disturbance has the potential to be a major rain event across the southern half of the state.

Most of the computer models are indicating that up to an inch of rain could fall as far north as the Brazos Valley in the next 10 days, with much higher rainfall totals likely across Deep South Texas.

If the ridge can move a little further north than what the current models are indicating, the tropical moisture could provide some drought relief further north across Texas. Hopefully most of us will get some tropical downpours from this event. We could certainly use the rain!
