Twelve
students are participating in a class being offered for the first time
at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University to help provide
free tax preparation.
The accounting course, "Special Topics in
Tax -- Federal Taxation of Low Income Filers: Socio-Economic Forces,"
provides volunteers through the United Way of Brazos Valley to offer
free tax preparation and filing assistance to low-income people in the
area.
The students also are traveling to the nearby communities of Navasota, Brenham, Somerville and Madisonville.
