Bank to open new branch in Jewett
A Limestone County bank has broken ground on a new branch in Jewett with plans to expand its existing customer base, officials said.
Morris DeFriend, CEO of Farmers State Bank, said the Jewett branch, the bank's first Brazos Valley location, could open as soon as October.
"We have strong customer ties in that area already," DeFriend said. "Customers from our existing communities commute out there to go to work. We also serve the west side of Lake Limestone with our location in Groesbeck."
The Groesbeck-based bank also has locations in Thornton, Mexia, Fairfield, Wortham and Kosse.
