Sunday

First Christian Church is set to dedicate its new facility Sunday at a celebration following the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

The recently completed gathering space, at 900 S. Ennis St. in Bryan, connects two older buildings, the Sunday school wing built in the 1950s and the sanctuary, built in 1974.

"This space serves as a family room that connects the two separate buildings and provides a handicap accessible entrance," said Jeanette Phariss, chairman of the building committee. "It will add considerably to the life of our congregation -- and to the community as well. This new space gives us the opportunity to help sponsor community events, such as the 'WYLD LIFE' program that an A&M student group holds in our building."

The public is invited to the reception.

The sermon scheduled for Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church will involve questions that shape our lives.

Sunday school is offered during each of the services -- at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Confirmation for sixth-graders will be at 8:15 a.m. Child care is provided for all three services.

The church is at 4201 Texas Avenue S. in College Station. For more information, call 690-4673 or go to www.christ-umc.org.

Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Senior Citizens Day on Sunday during an 11 a.m. service.

Everyone is asked to wear pink or purple to honor the day. The Rev. F. Calvin Lewis III will present the message. The public is invited to the service at 1202 West 2nd St. in Hearne.

First United Methodist Church, 506 E. 28th St. in Bryan, will host traditional worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

The Rev. Matt Idom will preach on the Book of Mark with a sermon entitled "Who will take the first step?"

Sunday school classes meet at 9:45 a.m. Child care is provided.
