New Elam Baptist Church, 509 W. Brenken St. in Hearne, invites the community to learn to manage diabetes during a Saturday presentation at 3 p.m.
Dr. Johnnie R. Jackson will present his new book, Genocide of Americans -- The Healthcare Tsunamis, in the O.W. Mack Fellowship Building. Jackson will have copies of his book available for sale.
* Templo Sulamita, 1707 Groesbeck St. in Bryan, is hosting a fall festival with food, games and live music. The event will benefit the church building fund.

* The Old Baptist Church Preservation Society Inc. of Bedias invites the public to attend an old-fashioned singing convention Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. The event will begin at the old church, a half-mile east of Bedias on F.M. 2630. Visitors are encouraged to bring covered dishes.
* First United Methodist Church, 506 E. 28th St. in Bryan, will hold traditional Sunday worship at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matt Idom preaching on "Certain Faith in Uncertain Times." Sunday school classes meet at 9:45 a.m.
