Letter for May 10

Thanks for the Big Event, especially for Raul Martinez, Xiao Qui and Marcus Sidhantha for coming to my home.  They were three of the nicest young men I have ever met.

They not only trimmed large branches off six large trees, but mowed wet grass, raked leaves, mended fences and insisted on keeping busy doing more.

This was my first year to have the pleasure of using the Big Event.

I look forward to next year.

Good job, Aggies. Thanks.

Oh, it's an election year. Here come the promises again.

Now gas prices are an issue. The oil companies have been gouging us for two years. Where were all these politicians the past two years? Fundraising?

Now the borders are an issue again? The borders have been an issue for 30 years, along with energy independence, and the robbing of the Social Security funds.

Thirty years, same issues, and, again, the politicians would have us think they care. They don't care about gas prices. They are living off bloated taxpayer-funded salaries. Health care? We're paying for theirs so they don't care. It's not an issue for them. They've gotten taxpayer-funded health care since they held their first public office.

The border? They have secure mansions -- again at the tax payers' expense. Ain't no illegal gonna break into their homes.

Social Security? They get fat benefits packages, including retirement at the taxpayers' expense after eight years of service.

So why do they suddenly care? It's an election year.
