11-year-old boy dies in ATV accident

Eagle Staff Report

An 11-year-old boy died Saturday after being involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Brazos County, authorities said.

Brazos County Chief Deputy Mike Wilson said the boy, who was not identified by late Saturday, was a passenger on the ATV when the wreck occurred in a pasture on Dilly Shaw Tap Road in northeastern Brazos County.

Police arrived on scene at 8:02 a.m. and transported the boy to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Wilson said it's believed that the boy is a resident of the Navasota area and was in town visiting a friend for the weekend.

No one else was injured in the incident, he said.

An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz.
