2 Houston men held in vehicle burglary
College Station police arrested two Houston men Friday during an undercover operation targeting vehicle burglars and auto thieves.
Police said officers were monitoring the Academy parking lot on Texas 6 when they saw a man force open the door of a pickup parked next to his. By the time officers moved in, the man had removed two guns and a duffel bag from the truck and put them in his car, police said.
When the man realized officers were in the area, he jumped into his car and sped out of the parking lot, hitting a curb and blowing out a tire, according to police reports. Officers said two men abandoned the car on a nearby cul-de-sac and took off running.
Both men were arrested after a short foot chase.
Carmelo Martinez, 35, and Jose Rene Maldonado, 22, were charged with two counts of theft of a firearm, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. Martinez was also charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and evading in a vehicle.

It took me a while, but I see what you mean now. The partial report is for 5 days and lists no arrests, yet this person comes up with that interpretation. I presume it is a face saving comment, but believe me, this guy is not representative of the average College Station resident.

Maybe the "magnet" is C.S. stupidity. Seriously, don't you think that criminals near and far read things like: "now Houston trash because of are (sic) wealth" and say to themselves; "What a bunch idiots! Let's take advantage of it."

Who gives a damn what Bryan's statistics are. Shooting your mouth off about Bryan helps us not one bit. If some were to believe your b/s it might make them more complacent and therefore be easier targets. Grow up.

An undercover operation should be run at Post Oak Mall. There have been at least eight automobile break ins in the last three or four days. If CSPD cannot control the problem, Post Oak Mall should be required to employ a full time security guard for parking.

I agree with the County Person crime is everywhere. Bryan is the source of it in this area. CSPD has already arrested a serial rapist, home invaders, hotel robbers and restaurant robbers just in they past 7 months all that are Bryan's finest. Even their Police chief of Bryan moved to College Station and a famous past Bryan mayor and college football coach.

I wish the police would report whether these, and many other violators of the law are actually U.S. Citizens? Mr. Martinez was already a felon, so why was he out on the streets again?

Another good place for an undercover operation would be on Holleman Drive. Automobiles on this street are constantly being burgled.
