2 hurt when vehicle hits Bryan business

A vehicle driven by a 53-year-old man slammed into a business early Friday, sending two people to the hospital , Bryan police said.

Authorities said John Cemino was stopped in traffic facing west on William Joel Bryan Parkway, not far from the post office, when his sport utility vehicle "suddenly" left the roadway and hit Techniques Hair Design, 2903 E. Villa Maria Road.

Gene Thornton, the owner of the business, and a client were hit by the SUV and by debris from a falling wall, according to police reports filed after the 11 a.m. accident.

Both were taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries; their conditions were not available late Friday. Cemino was not injured but was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, officers said.

No charges had been filed by late Friday, but police said the crash remained under investigation.
