Dr. P.K. Carlton (left), director of homeland security at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, talks with Dr. A. Hadi Al Khalili, a neurosurgeon and the Iraqi cultural attache from the Iraq Embassy in Washington D.C., about a modular hospital design by A&M students J. Evans Edwards and Stacey L. Rossmeisl on display at the Brazos Center on Monday.
The project was one of eight models produced by A&M architecture students in conjunction with the Health Science Center. Dr.Al Khalili is touring the United States in search of new ideas that might improve Iraq's health care system.
Modular hospitals can be quickly deployed and assembled in disaster areas worldwide where large numbers of patients and victims are in need of immediate care.
