Anderson inn gets into holiday spirit

Eagle Staff Report

Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site in Anderson will kick off the holidays Saturday with its annual Twilight-Firelight celebration.

The event will include dulcimer music, caroling, living history demonstrations and a cowboy poet. The grounds of the 19th-century stagecoach stop will be decorated with lanterns, luminaries and other 1800s-era holiday decorations.

Visitors can ride a stagecoach or wagon from the Grimes County Courthouse to the inn.

The event is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and there is no admission charge.

The park is off Texas 90, about 10 miles east of Navasota.
