B-CS gets a glimpse of the East
Caitlin OÕDell, 13, an eighth-grader at Jane Long Middle School, gets her face painted with characters and colors that designate her as Chinese royalty by calligrapher and A&M student Xueyan Wang on Thursday. The A&M Students and Scholars Association teamed up with the Confucius Institute at A&M to bring examples of Chinese culture to the Bryan school.
Miniature masks representing a wide variety of human virtues and vices central to themes in Beijing opera are on display with many other Chinese artifacts in the main exhibit hall of Rudder Tower as part of China Week on the Texas A&M campus. Events were held throughout the week, with a mid-autumn variety show finale set for 7 p.m. Saturday in Room 243 of the Rec Center.
