A Brazos County jury indicted 43 people Thursday, including two Bryan brothers charged in November with felony drug possession and three men who had been arrested on their third or more driving-while-intoxicated charge.
Brothers Rodney Darren Nelson, 23, and Rodrick Dwayne Nelson, 25, were indicted for possession of between four and 200 grams of a controlled substance -- a third-degree felony punishable by 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The Nelsons were arrested outside of a residence in the 2300 block of Long Drive when the police arrived to serve a search warrant on the home. The men were sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway, where officers say they found 13.8 grams of crack cocaine stored in several containers stashed in various parts of the car.
Rodney Nelson also was indicted for possession of a firearm by a felon for allegedly having a revolver with four live rounds and for an October evading arrest with a vehicle charge.
Billy Ray Schulz, 58, of Bryan, and Jesse Alan Gray, 30, of College Station, were indicted for felony DWI, having already been convicted of the charge twice.
Edgar Chairez, a 31-year-old from Ft. Worth, also was indicted on a felony DWI charge, having already been convicted of drunk driving three times since January 2010.
James Allen Clark, 28, was indicted on a third-degree felony forgery charge after police found five $100 counterfeit bills in his apartment in October.
An indictment does not indicate a defendant's guilt, just that a grand jury believes enough evidence exists to proceed with a trial.
