College Station police have charged an Iola woman with operating a sexually oriented business without a permit after responding to an Internet ad for an escort service, authorities said.
Authorities said officers set up an appointment with Irma Linda Whitson, 33, through an ad on Craigslist and arrested her Wednesday when she arrived at the scheduled meeting place.
Police said they suspected that Whitson was part of a group of women who travel the state engaging in prostitution but that she wasn't charged with prostitution because no offer of sex was made.
Lt. Rodney Sigler said that though prostitution might not have been involved in this case, the escort services being advertised were clearly sexual in nature.
He said the investigation continued and more arrests were possible.
Failure to obtain a permit to operate a sexually oriented business is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
Whitson was released from the College Station Jail on Wednesday night on $5,000 bail.

Wow this is getting scary. I hope Linda leaves this kind of life alone it's better ways to make a living than being and escort. Full body sensual massages will not raise her 3kids. I hope this will be a lesson learned. You didn't hit a homerun in Houston or Dallas. Please don't try in Bryan Linda aka Sasha.....you are very well known.

Back in the good (?) old days when Brazos Cty. allowed only beer & wine and A&M was not coed, we would pick up a bottle across the river and then drive to Huntsville to see the honeys. Gawd how those Sam Houston lads hated Aggies. We had to take an auto that had no Aggie sticker or you could really get into some sticky situations.

Word just in guys this is no great place to be. Chant it over and over all you want, say whatever you please scream, rant and propagate this place is no better than Bryan. The bias in this crap excuse for media is a joke and they pick and choose what crimes they report. Hence you do not often see printed every time one of your "good ole boys" maliciously wounds another person in one of your magnificent smoke free piss holes. A group of yokels continuously busting people for misdemeanors having it reported proudly that they have done such great service to our community. When in actually our community and these petty criminals are keeping their wallets lined while I see plain as day criminals running amok. Yea great job and keep up the good work.

Maybe so but at least we are putting a stop to smoking and escort services that are no even in CS jurisdiction. The really sad part is the CSPD had to lure the escort to CS so they could arrest. Lt. Sigler reminds me of the Lt. in Good morning Viet Nam, what a slug.

College Station's crime rates are skyrocketing and the corresponding arrests are not there. Plain and simple and no denying it. It is fact. Allocation of resources needs to be reviewed.

At first I thought it was slanted reporting by The Eagle that made CS appear as safe. It seems as there are four arrests reported in Bryan for every one in College Station. However, after reviewing data from College Station's web site it is apparent that it is not slanted reporting, rather the simple fact that CSPD is not making arrests. For the first two months of 2009 major crimes in CS have Increased by 30% while total arrests have Decreased by 2%. Incidentally, College Station's major crime rate increased 17% in 2008 vs Bryan's increase of 3.5%. Now, I will give credit where credit is due: CS traffic accidents for the two months are down 11%, so I guess the motorcycle officers and cameras are accomplishing their intended purpose.

This case will be for the defense based on the looks of the so called sex item. Oh by the way LT. Seigler, did you know 10 cars got their tires slashed while you made this bust. The department will probably have another awards banquet to congratulate themselves on how good they are. Police work like this is a joke and Seigler you are the punch line.

CSPD deserves a round of applause for its great detective work. They have managed to take down Queen Pin Linda Whitson. She is notoriously known on the street for her quality services. She is the leader of an underground circuit of transgendered escorts that often pose as police and firemen. They have cracked the case that should slow the traffic of clown suits and magic tricks as well. Good work CSPD. Add another WIN to the books. Maybe you guys can give out some MIP's this weekend to celelbrate.

Get you and your buddies lazy rears out to protect the citizens and cut out your little perverted efforts to moralize society. This case will not hold water and you SHOULD know better. Go to work serving and protecting or get another job. I am tired of paying for this kind of crummy police work.

If this is not an attempted entrapment what is. I do not agree with the sexual business. No I am not naive but what is different in the nationwide dating services. Cops wasting my money while real crimes are being committed against us the ones who pay the dumb ego trips.
