Texas World Speedway is hosting a Teen Survival Driving Academy on July 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. The course covers extreme weather conditions, steering control and emergency braking, emergency lane changes, collision avoidance and lane changes with dirt and gravel surfaces and more. Students also experience the effects of in-car distractions, alcohol abuse and use of cell phones while driving. Other dates are Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon and Sept. 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. Register at www.texasworldspeedway.com.

Fourth of July Fun Run, 7 a.m. Veterans Park. Free. Part of the 50th annual "I Love America!" celebration put on by the College Station Noon Lions Club.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4692 4th of July program, 11 a.m. VFW Post 4692, 794 N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Some proceeds will benefit the Military Assistance Program for veterans and their dependents. Barbecue chicken, sausage and trimmings, tea and dessert to be served. City of Navasota community parade, noon. Downtown Navasota. Meet at Prosperity Bank on West Washington Avenue. Following the parade, the Navasota Center will be open with games for all ages from 1 to 3 p.m. The H-E-B fireworks extravaganza will be that evening at Washington-on-the-Brazos.

I Love America! celebration, 5 to 10:30 p.m. George Bush Presidential Library. Free admission. Concession stands open and entertainment begins at 5 p.m. Fireworks display begins at 9:50 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. All food and drink concessions are $1. Free watermelon.
