Brazos County set another record in October by saving $36,867 in prescription drug costs through a county-run discount card program, District Clerk Marc Hamlin said.
The amount is the highest any county in Texas has saved in the history of the program, Hamlin said. In the program's 10-month existence, it has saved residents $292,620 -- more than the programs in larger areas such as Harris and Dallas counties.
The cards are available to all Brazos County residents, regardless of whether they have health insurance, and can picked up for free at pharmacies, churches, restaurants and governmental agencies.
