Drowning victim ID'd by authorities

Burleson County officials on Monday released the identity of a 22-year-old man who drowned in Lake Somerville over the weekend.

Giddings resident Ernesto Luis Gonzales died while swimming with his family at Welch Park. His body was recovered Sunday morning.

Gonzales is one of two people who died in area lakes over the weekend. Johnny Howard, 29, died Saturday afternoon at Lake Bryan while attending a family gathering, police said.
