A 44-year-old man charged with robbing a College Station bank last month after escaping from jail in La Grange was indicted Friday.
Patrick Scott Bigelow, who escaped from the Fayette County Jail on June 29, was arrested the next day at a Houston-area hotel.
Police said he tied a Fayetteville man up and left him on the side of the road after carjacking his vehicle from a grocery store.
Bigelow drove the vehicle to College Station, where he attempted to rob a Citibank branch on Harvey Road, then robbed a Citibank branch on University Drive before abandoning the vehicle at Blinn College in Bryan, officials said.
Bigelow was indicted on three counts Friday: one for the Citibank robbery, one for the carjacking and one for using a firearm during the carjacking.
Bigelow is in federal custody without bail, officials said.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt but an indication that a grand jury believes there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.
