The Far East has found a home in the Brazos Valley -- at least until June 5.
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History Museum will have the exhibit The Shogun Age in Japan, 1603-1853 on display until that time.
The exhibit will highlight "the exotic splendor of feudal Japan" and will be shown in accompaniment with The Brogdon Hotei, the museum's permanent collection.
The collection's focus is on Hotei, one of seven Japanese gods of good fortune. Hotei is often depicted as a man with a large belly and contented expression.
Some items to look for in the exhibits include a Japanese bronze samurai warrior statuette and several authentic samurai swords.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children 17 and younger or senior citizens and children 3 and younger are free.
The museum is located at 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan and hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
