Live music, food and entertainment kicks off with Downtown Bryan's First Friday

First Friday events in Downtown Bryan kicked off at 5 p.m. and will continue through the evening.

Here's a listing of what's unfolding:

• The Frame Gallery, 216 N. Bryan Ave, 5 -10 p.m. Original art by many local artists, Live jazz & blues, 6:30-9:30, (R.G. Watkins & Friends: Conrad Guthrie/bass, Douglass Shaw/piano, Skot Jakubiec/guitar, Randy (R.G.) Watkins/drums), cash wine bar & art activity for all. 822-0496

• Info table, 214 N. Bryan Ave., Help us “Save the Queen." T-shirts to benefit the restoration of the Queen Theatre- available tonight! Stop by and make a donation to the Downtown Bryan Association’s Save the Queen fund. 822-4920

• Open House for Estate Auction (Auction is Sept 4, by Corner of Time Antiques in the old Texas Furniture building), 206 N. Main St. Lots & lots of interesting things. Live music, tonight too. 822-7400

Organizers said the program made possible in part through the City of Bryan and the hotel tax revenue funded from the City of College Station through the Arts Council Brazos Valley.

Additional parking is available in several lots around historic downtown:

• 200 block of E. Wm. J. Parkway (diagonally across WJB from Brazos County courthouse)

• 300 block of N. Main St. (diagonally across the intersection from Caffe Capri)

• 200 block of S. Main St. and S. Bryan Ave. (south of the LaSalle Hotel & River Bridge Grill & Bar)

• 200 block of W. William Joel Bryan Pkwy (Post Office parking lot across from Square One Bistro)

• 200 block of S. Tabor St. (across the tracks from Revolution Cafi & Bar, behind the Children's Museum)
