Eagle Staff Report
A woman was taken by helicopter to a hospital Tuesday night after suffering burns from a grease fire, authorities said.
District 2 Volunteer Fire Department Chief Merrie Noak said firefighters were called to a home on Kurten Cemetery Road in eastern Brazos County around 7:30 p.m.
"A grease fire had started in the kitchen, and as the resident tried to take the pan outside, she suffered some burns," Noak said.
It took the crew of eight firefighters about five minutes to knock out the fire that Noak said was still in the very early stages when they arrived.
The home's kitchen suffered minor fire damage.
