Eagle Staff Report
A 25-year-old Houston man jailed on a misdemeanor theft charge since March 10 was charged with felony theft after police said he also was responsible for stealing four tires and chrome rims.
Bryan police arrested Jareal Christopher Horton after someone reported seeing a man driving a white van taking tires off a car and leaving the scene.
Eight tires and rims were found when police pulled the van over, but only one of the owners could be located.
The owner of the second set of rims and tires reported the theft later that day.
Horton was charged with theft of property more than $1,500 but less than $20,000, which is classified as a state jail felony and punishable by up to two years behind bars.
Horton remained in the Brazos County Jail Saturday in lieu of $26,000 bail.
