Man, 25, held in trucker's stabbing

A 25-year-old Bryan man was in jail Wednesday, accused of stabbing a man in the face during what authorities called a brutal robbery attempt.

Adam Wayne Pickney was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by five years to life in prison.

Grimes County sheriff's officials said Pickney tried to rob a man Nov. 26 at a rural oil station on F.M. 1696 in Iola. Authorities said the station was in the middle of nowhere.

Grimes County sheriff's investigator John Wren said a 64-year-old truck driver was filling out his log book at the oil station when Pickney pulled up.

Pickney asked the man for jumper cables or tools to repair his vehicle, Wren said.

"The victim thought this was strange because he just saw the car pull up," Wren said.

Wren said the truck driver began to walk toward his 18-wheeler when Pickney began demanding money.

When the man said he didn't have any money on him, Pickney stabbed him in the face and ended up cutting his arm, Wren said.

Wren said the man was able to escape to the safety of his truck cab and call 911.

"That's when [Pickney] jumped down, stabbed the front tire a couple of times and fled," he said.

Wren said the victim was treated at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan for severe cuts and released the same night.

He received stitches in his face and his arm, Wren said, and one cut went all the way through the man's lip.

"It was a brutal attack," he said.

The victim was able to get the man's license plate number, and the Bryan Police Department arrested Pickney on Tuesday, officials said.

He was being held in the Grimes County Jail on Wednesday on $250,000 bail.

Comment Title: Love reading the eagle to see the cs idiots/alcoholics
I say build a wall around goody goody cs so us Bryan, Ex-Grimes Co. residents don't have to deal with the uneducated, moronic better than yous from the paradise town run by thieves and mommy and daddys money. Well, unless you get on the eagle. These people sure are tough on a computer. Even with your two guns buddy, you ain't got the b@lls to use them so you stay inside your little $1200.00 a month efficiency apt. and be tough over the laptop your rich parents bought you for school. I am sure this is part of a class your taking. Go to northgate, get drunk, jaywalk, and cry like the three year olds you are about breaking the law and having to pay for that. Just like your idiot brethren fighting the traffic ticket the he "admitted" to by paying the fine then crying and wasting us working class Bryan peoples money in court. You people are the stuff I wash off of the bottom of my shoe after working the fields in Iola. P.S., I work in cs so I guess you losers better watch out for me too, since you are stereo-typing all Bryan residents.

Comment Title: Good wall my butt
I do not want a wall set up. I live in College Station and there is no way I would want to be locked up behind a wall with College Station ignorant people. The people that bashes Bryan is no better then gangbangers. Now if these so called ignorant people started killing people in the name of Bryan we would be upset. So why is it that people's ignorants have anything to do with Bryan. Why isn't it about the individual. ALso why is it that College Station is not crime free if it is so better then the town that is only five minutes away.

Bryan residents have been going to iola area for sometime now. Grimes Sheriff shot and killed one of their drug heads already. Sounds like Drug dealers have set up shop in The area. This town is only around 330-people.
