Marijuana reportedly found during stop

Eagle Staff Report

Two Bryan men remained jailed Sunday after a traffic stop a day earlier yielded what police said was a felony amount of marijuana, officials said.

Police said they pulled over Rogelio Tellez, 22, after he went through a stop sign at the intersection of Beck and Palasota streets.

After arresting Tellez for driving with a suspended license with previous convictions, the officer approached the passenger in the car and noticed two plastic bags on the floorboard, according to the police report.

The passenger, Cesar Aguilar, 23, denied having drugs in the vehicle, police said, but a search revealed 11 bags of marijuana in his pockets, according to court documents.

Police said they located a large bag of marijuana behind the driver's seat, bringing the total amount seized to 13 ounces, documents state.

Aguilar told police the marijuana belonged to Tellez, according to authorities, and both were taken to the Brazos County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana less than five pounds and more than four ounces -- a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in prison.

Bail was set at $11,325 for Aguilar and $7,325 for Tellez.
