More than 100 in fight outside bar
More than 100 people were involved in a fight outside Rockies bar at Post Oak Mall at midnight Friday, authorities said.
No charges were filed and no injuries were reported, College Station police said. About 10 police cars responded, police said.
Police said the owner of the bar did not want to press charges.
Rockies' owner, Rusty Hamilton, said it wasn't a fight, just a bunch of 17- and 18-year-olds pushing each other around.
The teens were participating in a private birthday party at the bar, Hamilton said, and when he noticed trouble, he called police.

Bryan gang bangers have been coming into this mall for years and making problems. The shooting of a child a few years ago was because two Bryan gangs ran into each other in the mall. If Bryan people are going to be in this club. We need to have police working at them just like in Bryan. It works in Bryan it will work in CS.

How about not throwing a party for your 17 or 18 year olds at a bar? STUPID. Rockies Bar is trash anyways. These Bryan kids should stick to Gattiland or Grand Station, or just kick it at the Premiere (they are doing a great job running that place in the ground).

Comment Title: Questionable reporting!
It seems to me that this story was way under-reported to actually show up in the paper's web page... Was alcohol served or not? Was it a teen-only night or not? How big a "fight" was it? Any injuries or not? (Seems that just maybe there were some if there were 100 people involved.) What exactly did the 10 carloads of troopers do? " ... the owner of the bar did not want to press charges." -- charges for what? Somebody apparently did something. Come on Eagle reporter -- whatever happened to the 5 W's of journalism? Give us better so we won't have to endure all the speculation the commenters are leaving here. And evidently a lot of people are interested in the racial aspects, if any.

Comment Title: 17 & 18 yr olds
Let's make up our legal minds. 17 and 18 is old enough to go to Iraq, 18 to vote, go to prison, buy firearms, get married, sign a contract, etc. but... no beer! You have to be MATURE to buy beer...If you want to DRINK, grow up kiddies... If this age is not mature enough to drink, why in the **** can they do so much else? P.S. I don't favor younger alcohol laws.

County Guy, 17 & 18 year olds are considered "adults" in the eyes of criminal law (they go to adult jail, not juvenile) so it is rare for police to call parents to come get their "kids" once they reach this age.

Bars are allowed to have non-alcoholic nights. TABC allows this for minors as long as no alcohol is served. It isn't unusual for a few in the area to have some "teen nights" in the summer. I heard from folks who work there as well as from others that were there that by the time CSPD arrived everything was over. They can't arrest for DOC fighting if they don't see it.

County Guy AH! County Guy, the hour is nigh, The sun has left the lea; The orange-flower perfumes the bower; The breeze is on the sea; The lark, his lay who thrill’d all day, Sits hush’d his partner nigh: Breeze, bird, and flower confess the hour, But where is County Guy? The village maid steals through the shade Her shepherd’s suit to hear; To Beauty shy, by lattice high, Sings high-born cavalier. The star of Love, all stars above, Now reigns o’er earth and sky, And high and low the influence know— But where is County Guy?

When 17 and 18 year olds are involved in "pushing each other around" outside a bar, the police need to contact parents to come and get their children.

Comment Title: Ohhhh Rocky
I have been to Rockies on a couple of occasions and did not see any teens...however, I have seen several very young looking people at Hurricane Harry's. I understand there are some places that allow 18 year olds in and are "stamped" or "tagged" and allowed in to party. This practice should be stopped and stricter enforcement applied on the drinking age. Bars and clubs are for adults not kids, and if the club owners won't comply then take away the licensing.

Why does Post Oak Mall allow bars/clubs to operate with out on site security/police. Recently saw that a nice young man was in coma from injury breaking up fight outside bar in mall. Now this 17/18 year olds in a bar! Parents, Bar Owner and POST OAK MALL are all responsible. Once again money earned by Bar and Mall are what they care about.

Could this bar have been rented out for a private party? In such a case, there could have been no alcohol sold. I have seen other establishments rented for private parties (i.e.: Birthdays), and the alcohol was locked away. Not certain that this was the case, but it is a possibility...It still does not excuse the behavior of the kids or the lack of supervision provided by responsible adults.

The Pack mentality of these delinquents combined with permissive or ignorant parents and a bar that lets them in and we have a situation that is a major tragedy waiting to happen. We might has well go ahead and block off some hotel rooms for CNN, Fox News, etc...... To get this stopped we are going to have to stop making excuses and hit them with some quick & severe consequences.

If ticket profit was involved CSPD would be all over this. We would have Police car, Motorcycle officers and bike officers. Even a special task force to aid in the tickets writing. Even the city Govt would look at the streets around this area for RED light cameras. It not a ticket issue so nothing will happen.

Comment Title: Wasn't a fight
There were no sanctioned bouts on the schedule Friday night. And you have to be 21 to fight...17-18 yr olds all drink Kool-Aid and push each other. The owner could try hiring doormen who can read the dates on IDs.

College Station police are quite dilligent about ticketing speeding motorists. I wonder why they would not ticket a bar owner for allowing minors on the premises? Surely there are statutes against underage drinking and public intoxication. Police responsibility doesn't stop because a bar owner doesn't press charges.

Comment Title: shut them down
If you walk into rockies, there are alot of teenager in there DRINKING.. Thats why my husband and I stopped going to rockies. It used to be a pretty layed back bar, that we love to go there and just dance and have fun. UNTIL the owner started allow all the kids to come in and drink. Thats why they are having so many fights! I think rockies needs to be shut down!!

Comment Title: 17 & 18
Why are underage kids having a birthday party at a bar? Way to go stupid parents. Why were no charges filed at all? This is absurd. The owner should be taken to task for allowing underage customers in his bar. I rather doubt that all parents of these kids were present at this bar.
