Murder suspect also accused of burglary

A Bryan man accused of murdering a Blinn College student also is facing a burglary charge after police found a laptop computer in his vehicle that had been reported stolen, authorities said.

Jeremiah Rosser, 27, was charged Wednesday with burglary of habitation, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

He was already in jail on murder charges in the death of 20-year-old Jenna Verhaalen.

Verhaalen was found strangled in her apartment April 9. Authorities said DNA evidence tied Rosser to her death, and he was arrested Tuesday. He was a former maintenance worker at her apartment complex.

Bryan police said the laptop was reported stolen May 28 from an apartment in the same complex. Officers said Rosser had keys that fit the lock to the apartment.

Rosser remained in the Brazos County Jail late Thursday on $225,000 bail.

Surely this is not just a ranting by another of College Station's bimbos. So, could you provide the name of the agency or a link to such agency rating 70-80% of Bryan unsafe.

I agree with below but that looks to be 70-80% of the city of Bryan rated as not safe.

Yes these streets you are naming are not the best streets to travel at night. I can agree with that. We definitely need more help from Bryan PD to crack down on these areas. Thankfully, there are still many safe areas in Bryan due to hard work by its citizens.

Take the scared straight tour of Bryan. A few roads to check out: Beck, Sims, MLK, Waco, finfeather, groesbeck, Leonard, and South college near downtown. Some areas to see it all: Neal, Bryan Arms APT. S.College, The oaks-2818. A hot area with crack houses North of HWY 21 west of Texas ave. Note: Dogs pit bulls ETC.,video systems cameras, bars and fences around perimeter of yard. Also people standing around intoxicated or high. The later the hour the higher they people. Please judge this city for yourself.

Comment Title: Bryan thugs
Seriously, do you think all bad people come from Bryan. You are ignorant. We do not need to read statistics to know that murderers, rapists, and thieves come from every town and background. Move to an island by yourself. I hope that you see the real problem at hand. There was an innocent girl murdered. It does not matter where they are from. Bad people are everywhere. I hope you are not so naive to think that you or your childen (if any) are not affected anywhere you live. Do not judge the city. Judge those who are escaping without doing anyhting about it. Judge those who are looking in without changing it. You will find crime wherever you go. But be naive if thats what's going to make you feel better. I just hope in the mean time you are praying for those in loss, not glorifying the fact that Bryan has another crime in its stats.

Comment Title: Yes a new group.
Yes I do see the group that uses this site as a place to vent their frustrations toward Bryan. Im glad you noticed as well. They seem like they should find a new forum for their aggressions, maybe together in person. As for me, Im still stressing that we mourn for the loss of an innocent girl and her family, as well as the family of Jeremy.

You must be new here. The group is already formed: Jamie@CS, NBA, NBC, Kevin Harris, a couple of illiterates (see below) without names, and several more incarnations of the above list.

College station needs to stop reading the Crime stats from The Texas DPS, FBI, and City-Data.com. You would then fell good then about Bryan thugs raping, robbing and stealing from you.

Comment Title: Hostility towards Bryan
Why is there such hostility toward Bryan? Yes I agree the crime rate is increasing, but why make such generalizations toward its residents. I myself am a resident in College Station, but am proud to say that I graduated from Bryan High School. My father teaches for the school, and is proud to help in the education of these residents. Maybe College Station is still too close for those of you casting stones. There have been murders, rapes, and many robberies in College Station. Let us focus on the article itself. Form a group to voice your complaints toward Bryan. Right now we should focus on praying for Jenna and Jeremy's families. May God be with you all and may Jenna rest in peace.

Comment Title: Why do people bother to post such ignorant comments?
First of all, to all of those wanting to add fuel to the fire...STOP. The laptop was stolen from someone's apartment and reported in May. Jenna was killed in March. So please stop trying to make people believe it was Jenna's! I knew Jenna and the maintenance guy accused of her murder. Jenna would not want everyone to do this. She was an extremely caring and forgiving individual. She may be gone from this terrible place, but I really don't think she would want everyone gossiping about her killer over the internet. Jeremy was a good guy when I was around him, but you just never know who people really are these days. Please keep both families in you hearts and prayers, and stop torturing them. Only time and silence will heal what has happened.

just because he stole a laptop doesnt mean that was motive. Will any of yall gossip queens grow up. It wasnt even her laptop and it was nowhere near the time frame. Was he proven guilty yet???? No. So why dont you back off and see if BPD can find conclusive evidence that proves him guilty. As of right now he is being held in SUSPICION to the murder. Do yall understand that word, or are all CS schools that good at teaching.

Comment Title: Can we say "MOTIVE"
I was has having doubts about his guilt until now! My prayers and thoughts go out to all involved, however Jeremy has a lot of issues that obviously were being over-looked by his family. Just because he didn't have a criminal record doesn't mean he was innocent. I personally know of several situations where he has stolen things from people that he called "friends".
