Police: Renter pulls gun on locksmith

A 27-year-old woman being evicted from her Bryan apartment faces a misdemeanor deadly conduct charge after pulling a gun on a locksmith changing the locks, police said.

The woman was arrested Thursday for the Oct. 3 incident. She was released from the Brazos County Jail on $10,000 bail the same day.

Police said the landlord hired a locksmith to change the locks at the apartment in the 2000 block of South College Avenue because the woman was several months behind on rent.

The woman became enraged when she returned home to find the locksmith at the apartment, according to police reports. When he refused her order to leave, she pulled a gun, police said.

Police said there were lock-out notices in the woman's yard at the time of the call.

If convicted, the woman could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

What people don't realized that if College Station is wealthier than Bryan it only and because of Texas A&M. Or do residents not notice when school is not in secession, College Station looks like a ghost town. If we didn't have the university, College Station would be just like Bryan. Thats why I live in Bryan (nice home) and pay less taxes and work for Texas A&M. It has work out great for me. Quit the pointing fingers, every city has their poor part of town problem, but I must insist, I have lived here all my life, and NO HOUSES OR COMMUNITY (NOT EVEN in COLLEGE STATION PEBBLE CREEK) can compare to the houses right behind LUBY'S in Bryan. They are enormous and beautiful...why do they live in Bryan? They don't have any problems with Bryan, so why people with less money have problems. Talking about cities are a joke.

A well known fact is that the Luther Street complex named Southgate Village is full of HUD recipients. I own three older properties within two miles of there and each is HUD approved. Tell me how the city of College Station can do anything about these so called HUD problems.

The reason Bryan looks like what some people call a slum or ghetto is because of our lack of zoning and code enforcement. Zoning and code enforcement are the main contributing factor of maintaining and increasing property values in any city in the US. Higher property values bring in higher tax value. Increasing the cost of renting a property. Thus driving HUD housing from areas. Clearly some people don't understand this in Bryan today. This is why the city has so much HUD housing and trailers parks. CS has very few. This is another reason the state of Texas and TEA have listed Bryan as property poor and CS as property wealthy. This is a polite way of saying Bryan is poor and CS is wealthy. This is why CS property values are more than Bryan's. zoning and code enforcement. CS/AM-basher stop trying to make all the people in Bryan out as fools. Best wishes on your needed education.

Obviously the poster below, CSTX, has absolutely no idea of what zoning laws can and cannot permit. A house can be rented to anyone who can pay the rent. The only restrictions are no more than four unrelated tenants in College Station, and only two in some areas of Bryan. Any duplex, triplex, or apartment complex can be approved by HUD and NO city ordinance can prohibit a tenant from renting if he/she is HUD assisted. If an owner in Pebble Creek or another of the supposed elite College Station neighborhoods decided to rent to a person who has HUD assistance, there is nothing under the sun that could stop him. Learn what you speak of before you make an ass of yourself.

Obviously this Bryan resident has never heard of the city code enforcement and zoning regulations. Typical of the type of person that lives and runs Bryan today. This is the reason areas such as Pebble Creek, Castlegate, Woodcreek and others don't have HUD complexes. Zoning and regulations are the key to maintaining a proper city environment. A city without them becomes what Bryan is today. Eventually only the poverty stricken or uneducated are left in a city or town. A major problem today in Bryan.

What an incredibly ignorant statement. The city has absolutely nothing to do with whether my rental properties are HUD approved or not, or to whom I rent them.

I had this problem with many tenants in my properties in College Station. I finally decided that it is not worth the additional work necessary to comply with HUD requirements and then have these tenants stiff me. They go from residence to residence stiffing landlords. Let the Luther St. apt. complexes have them or let them move to Bryan or anywhere that will take them.

If it does get worse Bryan will lead the way. Bryan had a 82% increase in property crimes last year before it hit CS. Riots are now starting to happen more and more in Bryan. Bryan PD now needs to call the state and county Lawman for help after being attacked by intoxicated and high Bar Mobs. This Bryan crime wave is turning into a tsunami going into the county, College Station and with little are now news reports.
