A 24-year-old Bryan man was arrested after a police dog detected drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop, authorities said.
He was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and could face 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted.
Bryan police said they pulled over the man's car Wednesday because he turned into the wrong lane on Finfeather Road.
Officers asked to search his vehicle because he had a prior arrest for drugs and was heading into a known drug area, police said.
The man refused, so officers called for a drug dog, authorities said.
The dog indicated there were drugs in the vehicle, and officers found 13.76 grams of marijuana between the front seats, police said.
The man was released from the Brazos County Jail on $2,000 bail Thursday.

I guess I could have expected as much from you two busters. I want to ask though. Have you (jamiecs,RT, nba) you even been to the hood? have you purchased illegal drugs? have you ever came to the hood to trick? (hook up with ladies of ill repute?) Actually I am betting that you and your friends are passing around a joint,...wait that's too old fashioned, a blunt while you are typing that mindless drivel.Probably doing some underage drinking too, which is a frequent incident going on in Northgate. Now weed has never caused anyone cancer, nor cause psoriasis of the liver. Scientist have proven this. (The government don't want you to know this though.)So let's see what God has to say about it? GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! I hope you two or one, whatever take the time to read these two books and try to become enlightened. If not refer to the Holy Bible. That is if you are a believer. God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat." … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:29-31) The Bible predicts some herb's prohibition. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall … speak lies in hypocrisy … commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3) This is What Jesus said about choice. He said not to criticize other people for their habits. "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; that which cometh out of the mouth defileth a man." (Mat. 15:11) The apostle Paul wrote, I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. … For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Paul: Romans 14:14,17) What the Lord told Moses to do: the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even 250 shekels, and of qaneh-bosm [cannabis] 250 shekels, 24 And of cassia 500 shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: 25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy anointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. 26 And thous shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, 27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick ahd his vessels, and the altar of incense, 28 And the altar of burnt offerings with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. 29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy. "Oh, and congratulations on (I'm assuming from your comment about Copperfield) improving your life!" My house in Copperfield is about half the size of my parents' house. I grew up going to private schools with disgustingly wealthy kids who didn't appreciate anything that they had in life. Last year I saw a girl who went to my high school on MTV's Sweet 16 show. I wanted to slap those kids 20 years ago, and I still do. I was raised to appreciate what I had. Saying that pot is wrong because it's illegal is backwards thinking. Something should be illegal because it's wrong, not the other way around. Pot was originally criminalized because Southwestern politicians wanted to drive Mexicans out of New Mexico and Arizona during the Great Depression. They created a series of short films on the evils of marijuana which they showed to Congress (marijuana was virtually unknown in the Eastern US at that time), who outlawed the drug in 1937. Reefer Madness is the best known of these propaganda films. In fact, Richard Nixon's own task force on drugs recommended that pot be legalized, but he saw it as representative of the counter-culture of his era and ignored their recommendation. I never thought that I would live in a neighborhood with model homes because I find them to be bland and homogeneous. I don't want my son having the same private school experiences that I did, and I can't stand College Station, so it didn't leave me with many choices. I do very much like my particular area of Copperfield however.

My apologize! But with due respect, I have to disagree with your theory about pot. I have personally been witness to (more than just a handful) people move to stronger drugs because pot was no longer effective. And another thing (I think you would have to agree with), it is against the law; therefore, something that needs enforcing by law enforcement. The same as underage drinking, DUI's, etc. I agree alcohol & cigarettes are also harmful to the health, BUT they are not illegal in the hands of age appropriate adults. Maybe not fair, but laws are laws and as citizens we need to abide.... not that it is fair - just the way it is.

"She may not sell to little kids, but drugs that pass through her hands can very easily end up in the hands of kids, whether by her or someone else!" ABSOLUTELY! If pot were legal, the government could enforce a minimum age for purchase. We have spent, literally, millions and millions of dollars "fighting it," and it is still *everywhere*, and it's a lot cheaper than it was when I was in college 15 years ago. I don't think that kids should have access to it. Just about everyone that I knew in high school that smoked it was a loser devoid of ambition. However, physically, it is fairly harmless. It very well might cause lung damage (very little actual research has actually been done in this area), but if that's the basis of criminalization, then what about cigarettes? My mother was an alcoholic who died from liver failure at the age of 62. It was an absolutely GRUESOME process to witness. There is no doubt in my mind that alcohol is more dangerous that pot. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol, and it isn't working for pot. It's nothing but a massive waste of money.

This is absurd. You can't search a vehicle without a warrant or the consent of the owner. The owner's legal history is irrelevant. The neighborhood that he is in is even more irrelevant. This guy needs to hire a decent lawyer and get his half-ounce of weed back. I am just shocked that the Bryan Police Department would admit that the neighborhood he was in would factor into their decision to search the car. I guess the moral of this story is don't drive with pot in the car, unless you're in Austin's Colony/Copperfield/Tiffany Park/etc.. As a Bryan resident, I hate to think that my tax dollars pay for this crap.
