The body of man dumped in a creek bed along Texas 21 just west of Madisonville was found Monday by authorities acting on a tip from another agency.
The man hasn't been conclusively identified and authorities said it doesn't appear that he was killed in Madison County.
Deputies were sent to look for the body at about 4 p.m. Monday after being contacted by the Conroe Police Department, Madison County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Poe said. Conroe authorities reported that a man told officers that he took a dead body to Madison County and dumped it on the side of the road.
The man provided directions to find the body, which was tucked in brush in a creek bed, Poe said, adding that the body was found where the man said he had dumped it.
Conroe police late Monday were continuing to investigate. The body was sent for an autopsy.
