Police open sign-ups for citizen academies

The Bryan and College Station police departments and the Brazos County Sheriff's Office now are registering interested residents for their respective citizen academies.

Registration for the Citizens Sheriff's Academy will end Jan. 17 and classes start Jan. 19.

Participants in that academy will meet every Thursday at the Wellborn Community Center until April 19.

The 10-week Bryan Citizens Police Academy will meet one night a week from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.

The Spanish course will begin Monday, Feb. 6 and the English class will start on Feb. 9.

The College Station Citizen Police Academy begins Feb. 7 and meets at the police department for 10 weeks every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
