Portion of Carson Street to close

Carson Street will be closed from Cavitt Avenue to South College Avenue in Bryan on Wednesday through the end of the week.

The closure will begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday, and work is expected to continue through 6 p.m. Friday.

The closure is needed so the city's contractor can install an 8-inch water line on Echols Street and relocate the existing 18-inch water line running down Carson Street, city officials said.

City officials said drivers should avoid the area if possible. Drivers traveling down Carson Street should follow a detour route that will be marked with signs directing them to use Duncan Street, one block north.
