Religion notes

Sunday

* Faith United Church UCC worships at the Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan. The 9:15 a.m. study includes Max Lucado's book 3:16. Fellowship is at 10 a.m., worship at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Karl Tewold's message this week is "Be Careful What You Ask For!" Guests are welcome.

* Christ United Methodist Church, 4201 Texas 6 in College Station, will hold Commitment Sunday services. The Rev. Jerry House Jr. will continue the sermon series "The Gospel of John" with "He Came to Give Witness to the Light" at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30. Child care is available at all three services and Sunday school. Call 690-4673 for more information.

* North Bryan New Birth Baptist Church will celebrate the second anniversary of Pastor Samuel M. Hill III and Djuana Hill at 3 p.m. Pastor Calvin Arnold and The Church At Caldwell family will be the guests. Dinner will be served. The church is adjacent to Navarro Elementary School in Bryan. * Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3093 Texas 21 in Bryan, will be celebrating its 142nd church homecoming at 3 p.m. The guest speaker is the Rev. R.O. Waters, pastor of True Light Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

* First United Methodist Church, 506 E. 28th St. in Bryan, will hold worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matt Idom preaching a sermon on "Anger Wranglers" based on Ephesians 4:25-32. Sunday school classes meet at 9:45 a.m.

Barbecue lunches will be served from the new parking lot, either for sit-down or carry-out. Serving will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu is beef brisket, sausage, potato salad, coleslaw, beans and bread. All are invited. Donations will be accepted, and proceeds will go toward paying for the parking lot. Child care is provided for all worship services. For more information, visit www.fumcbryan.org or call 779-1324.

* Holy Cross Lutheran Church is hosting a Fall Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be children's activities, baked goods and other foods, a live auction and a raffle.

Oct. 24-25

* Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 804 N. Logan Ave. in Bryan, will have a Junior Mission Prayer Breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 24. The guest speaker will be Raquel Hurst of Living Branch Christian Center in Calvert. Junior Mission Annual Day will begin Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Delvin Atchinson of Antioch Baptist Church in Waco. Guests are welcome. Oct. 31

* Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4220 Boonville Road in Bryan, will hold its annual fall festival from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the church parking lot. The free vent will feature games, hay rides, food and candy. In case of rain, activities will be moved to the fellowship hall. For more information, call 776-5731.
