Remembering the fallen
Freshman English major Amy Hilton, 18, and other members of the A&M chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas are placing 2,977 flags at the Academic Plaza, one for each person killed in the 9/11 attacks. The group is hosting a debate at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Rudder Theater on whether the United States is pursuing the right strategy against international terrorism. For a listing of Sept. 11 anniversary events, go to Page A3.

Comment Title:
All flags placed were made in the USA. And the flags are not laying on the ground. It only looks that way because of the angle of the photographer. They were actually placed on a park bench.

Comment Title: GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
There is more honor in placing ONE American flag that is made in the U.S.A. than in placing 2,977 flags made in China.

Comment Title: Flags
I think what the Young Conservatives are doing by placing the Flags is an awesome thing! Kudos to this group! There is something that disturbs me however, the picture where you see all those US Flags on the ground...perhaps I am old fashioned but I thought this was a MAJOR DON'T! I have seen this time and time again, perhaps we need to do a better job of teaching our young people respect for our flag! Again, thanks to these young people for what they are doing, but perhaps a reminder of flag ediquette is in order.
