Burleson County Area Go Texan is getting ready to rodeo.
The nonprofit group, which serves to promote the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, is holding its annual fundraiser Saturday at the SPJST Hall in Caldwell.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature live and silent auctions and a dance, with music by Shawn Jennings and the Southern Roots Band. The dance will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., and the live auction will run from 10 to 11:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $5, and children get in free.
Burleson County's Go Texan Committee gave $80,600 in scholarships during 2007. To qualify, students had to have been members of either 4-H or FFA for at least two years.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will award a $15,000 scholarship in 2008 to one applicant from each of its supporting counties.
Frenstat Cookers, which will represent Burleson County at the 2008 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo barbecue contest, will provide concessions at the event.
