A 20-year-old San Antonio man was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail Tuesday after a passenger in the car he was driving sustained head injuries in an accident, officials said.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials said Carl Magaro failed sobriety tests at College Station Medical Center after the accident. He wrecked his Hummer H2 around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on Batts Ferry Road in Brazos County, police said.
The passenger, 19-year-old Joshua Kothmann, sustained head injuries, officials said. His condition was not clear late Tuesday.
The DPS charged Magaro with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Trooper Aaron Early couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
