Three teens killed in Washington County accident

A single-vehicle accident along Texas 36 at Big Sandy Creek on Saturday morning left three teenagers dead and one injured.

The accident was reported around 12:50 a.m.

Department of Public Safety officials said Riley Cole Key, the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet pickup, swerved to the left, overcorrected and crashed into a guardrail. After the initial impact, the truck rolled several times before landing upside down in the creek, officials said.

Key, 18, Thomas Calvin Wolz, 18, and Ethan Cole Sebesta, 19, were pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m.

Officials said Key and Sebesta were the only ones wearing seat belts.

Fifteen-year-old Christopher Jackson told officials he jumped out of the truck before the crash. He suffered minor injuries and was released from Trinity Medical Center in Brenham on Saturday.

Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell will be handling arrangements for Wolz and Sebesta. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings will handle the arrangements for Key.

Services have not been set.
