Several Brazos Valley roads were closed Wednesday morning because of flooding, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
• Madison County:
F.M. 1452, between Texas 39 and OSR
A dispatcher said the Canyon Creek Bridge on Watson Road near Normangee was washed out.
Old San Antonio Road west of Normangee was washed out and closed.
Mushgrove Road between F.M. 978 and F.M. 1452 was closed.
• Leon County:
FM 1848, from US 79 to FM 489
A dispatcher said the westbound service road of Interstate 45 just south of Centerville was under water and closed.
• Washington County:
F.M. 1155 is now closed between Texas 105 and F.M.1370 in Old Washington at Jordan Creek.
The National Weather Service said a flood warning continued for the Navasota River near Normangee where it’s expected to go over its banks Thursday. At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the stage was 12.5 feet and the flood stage is 15 feet. Officials said it likely will rise near 22 feet by early Friday morning. The flooding is being driven by Lake Limestone releases into the Navasota.
Today’s forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs in the lower 80s and southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph.
