Wednesday is the final day of the exhibit "Vanished: German-American Civilian Internment in Texas, 1941-1948" at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History.
The exhibit includes photos and artifacts from the internment of more than 15,000 German-American civilians in 60 camps and detention centers during and after World War II. Eight such camps were in Texas, including one in Hearne.
The program also features little-known stories of the more than 6,600 Germans, Japanese and Italians living in Latin America who historians claim were forcibly brought to the U.S. -- largely to Texas -- and held in camps.
The museum is at the Brazos Center in Bryan and is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to www.brazosvalleymuseum.org.
