A&M magazine wins real estate awards
Tierra Grande, the periodical of The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, has won four awards in the International Association of Business Communicators Southern Region Silver Quill Awards competition.
Staff members from the magazine, which targets Texas real estate agents, will receive the awards Sept. 29 in Denver. The Southern Region stretches from North Carolina to Arizona.
The 30-year-old magazine earned awards for illustration, photography, design and content.
O'Reilly giving $200 to sheriff's office
The new O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Bryan is donating $200 to the Brazos County Sheriffs Office in conjunction with its grand opening.
The store, which opened in mid-August at 1381 N. Texas Ave., will donate the money at a ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9.
District manager David Plaster and store manager Jason Jolly will attend.
Ellison to be chair of B-CS chamber
Tedi Ellison of The Ellison Firm will become chair of the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 1, replacing Manuel Gonzales of Sterling Auto Group.
Ellison, who joined The Ellison Firm in College Station in 1999, previously served as chair-elect and as a member of the chamber's board of directors and its legislative affairs and transportation committees. He will appoint a treasurer and vice chairs for the six-member executive committee.
Jan Lee of Dealers Lighting was named chair-elect.
Chamber members also recently voted in eight nominees to serve on the chamber's 24-member board of directors. Those board members are Chandler Arden of Chandler Arden Photography, Ken Fogle of Atmos Energy, Jo Manning of C&J Barbeque, Eric Wylie of Wells Fargo Bank, Sharon Brown of Brown & Co. Insurance Services LP, Patricia Gerling of Texas A&M AgriLife, Scott Lingren of Venus Pest Co. and Robert Orzabal of MicroAge College Station.
