In arranging her husband's death with someone she thought was a hitman, Nancy Mancuso Gelber asked that the murder be quick and painless, tape recordings played Tuesday in her trial revealed.
"He's not a violent person, he was as sweet as could be, but he changed," the 54-year-old said during a recorded conversation December 2011 with "Dwight," an undercover cop posing as a hitman. "I don't want it to look like a killing -- I want it to look like an accident." The tape was played for a Brazos County jury on the first day of the trial of Gelber, a Bryan woman who's been in jail since Dec. 9, 2011, for solicitation to commit capital murder.
