A 28-year-old Bryan man was arrested this week on six warrants for violating his probation by possessing child pornography, according to Bryan police.

Dwayne Lee Andrews was initially charged with possession of child pornography in 2009 following an investigation by police, who said they had received a report that Andrews had downloaded sexually explicit content involving children onto a leased computer in August 2008.

An employee of Turek’s Computer Company said that the videos were found during a routine removal of unwanted programs or personal information from a computer that Andrews had rented but had to return after defaulting on payments, according to the police report.

A Bryan investigator said that he found two files of suspected child pornography on the computer in February 2009 — one containing videos and the other incompletely downloaded or corrupted video files. Andrews turned himself into police two months later after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He remained in jail for eight months on six charges of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony punishable by 10 years and a fine of $10,000.

Andrews was indicted on four charges of possession of child pornography in June 2009, and was convicted of the offense in December of that year. His punishment of 10 years in prison was suspended and Andrews was placed on community supervision instead.

On July 25, the 361st Judicial District Court issued six motions to revoke Andrews’ community supervision, alleging he had violated the terms of his probation by possessing child pornography, failing to pay several mandatory fees, and failing to attend psychological counseling for sex offenders.

Andrews was accused of possessing child pornography on May 3, after his probation officer conducted an unscheduled search of Andrews’ home and found a laptop computer in Andrews’ bedroom that contained videos that were similar to those he had acquired in 2008, police stated in an arrest affidavit.

A Bryan detective said that he found two folders on the confiscated Gateway laptop with videos containing child pornography, some of which were complete and others incomplete.

Andrews was additionally charged with 12 counts of possession of child pornography. He remains incarcerated in the Brazos County Jail. His bail for the possession charges was set at $96,000; no bond amount has been set for the revocation charges.
