Not everything involving the legendary football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant will be immortalized in Alabama.

The original copies of the first memorandum of agreement between Texas A&M and Bryant and the contract signed by Bryant to be the athletic director and coach Texas A&M beginning in 1954 were recently discovered by former A&M employee Robert Smith and put on display at the Board of Regents Annex on Tuesday afternoon in a ceremony attended by A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin, chairman of the board of regents Phil Adams and Texas A&M University Interim President Mark A. Hussey.

to be fair, it also says " plus 1 percent of the gate". At that time capacity was 41500. Let's say average ticket price $10 (Ivery conservative), every games sold out, and total 7 home games. 1% at the gate would total $29050. Max total compensation would be $44050, in today's money that would be a whopping $385K. So Sumlin is only 13 times the coach Bryant was.

Come on Mr Crome do your job… Never mind, I’ll do it for you… A annual salary of $15,000 in 1954 is equivalent to a salary of $130,918.77 today according to the Bureau of labor statistics:

Texas A&M ‘s current coach has a $5 million-per-year deal. Is Sumlin really 38 times the coach that Bear Bryant was.. ?
